FAQ

Is resource management part of Planyway?

Yes. Resource management is built into Planyway, an advanced project management tool for Jira. It helps project managers plan work around real capacity, allocate it across people and multiple teams, and keep resource planning tied to the project plan: timelines, roadmaps, Gantt charts, workloads, time tracking and reporting. Planyway runs on your existing Jira tasks, so there’s nothing to migrate.

How much does Planyway’s Jira resource management plugin cost?

Nothing extra. Plenty of resource management tools sell resource planning as a separate module. In Planyway, resource management in Jira is part of the full app, so you don’t pay more for the resource planning tool. Planyway for Jira is free for teams of up to 10 users, and bigger teams get a free trial.

Beyond that, pricing depends on your team size and Jira hosting type. Check the latest pricing for Jira Cloud and Data Center on the Atlassian Marketplace.

Can I manage resources across multiple Jira projects?

Yes. Planyway allows you to connect multiple Jira spaces and see multiple projects in one view. When people are also booked on other projects, you see all the resources assigned to them, so conflicts show up before they hit a deadline.

Planyway makes cross-project planning much easier when you run projects simultaneously, and it scales up to portfolio management. You can manage project resources and manage resource allocation from one screen instead of checking each space.

Can I see team and individual capacity in Planyway?

Yes. Team capacity is rolled up from each member’s individual capacity. You see what the team has overall, then drill down into each person’s workload.

That workload visibility is the core of capacity management: you assign tasks to team members based on available resources, not guesswork. Assigning resources works through a drag and drop interface, so fixing workload distribution or task allocation means moving a card from someone overloaded to someone with room.

Each person can also set up a personal workspace to see their own tasks. The Workload Report covers capacity reporting and resource utilization. And if your team estimates in story points, you set your own points-to-hours rate.

Can I plan around part-time team members, shared resources, time zones, and holidays?

Yes. In Planyway, you can set individual working hours for different team members, including part-time schedules, and account for vacations, sick leave, days off, and regional holidays.

Our capacity planner then shows the time people actually have, which is what you need to manage resources effectively.

Can I track progress and compare planned vs. actual time?

Yes. Planyway’s time tracking syncs both ways with Jira, so actual time logged in either place shows up on your plan. You can track progress on the timeline, compare expected results with actual execution, and follow task progress and project progress together.

Dates come from your Jira start and end dates, including custom fields if that’s where your team keeps them. Built-in reporting features cover project performance and workload tracking, so you spot slipping work early and keep timely project completion realistic.

How is Planyway different from Jira’s resource management tools?

Jira is great for task tracking, but tracking tasks alone doesn’t tell you who has time to complete tasks next week. Planyway adds a full resource management process on top: individual and team capacity, workloads across projects, time off, custom workload schedules, time tracking, reports, and more.

When project scope changes, Planyway enables you to rebalance in minutes and keep project goals on track.
