Here's a step-by-step guide on how to create a subtask in Jira:

  1. Open your Backlog or Board and click on any work item.
  2. You will see the "+" button underneath the work item name.
  3. After you click on it, you will see the dropdown. Choose create a child item.
  4. You can set a name, add dates and assign a responsible member to this subtask.
  5. All created subtasks will be listed in the table inside a parent work item.
  6. If you'd like to manage subtasks visually, you can do it with Planyway timeline.
  7. Open any timeline view and enable Subtasks in the View settings. All existing subtasks will become visible.
  8. You can view subtasks in the board panel on the right side of the screen and easily drag and drop them to the timeline to schedule and assign.
