Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 29, 2026
This document applies to Planyway for Jira Data Center. For other Planyway products, see Privacy Policy.
1. Background
Planyway for Jira Data Center is an app installed on your organization’s self-managed Jira Data Center. Rsoftware LLP ("Rsoftware") develops the app («Service») and operates the planyway.com website («Site»).
Throughout this policy, when we write “Planyway” or «we» or «us», we’re referring to Rsoftware.
The key point: Jira project and issue content and the app data are stored on your organization’s servers; project and issue content is not transmitted as part of Planyway usage or diagnostic telemetry. Usage and diagnostic data is sent to Planyway and its service providers only if your Jira system administrator has enabled “Share usage and diagnostic data” for the whole Jira instance.
If you do not agree with this policy, do not access or use our Service.
2. Minors
We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we learn that a minor has submitted information to us, we delete the information as soon as possible.
3. Information we process
3.1 Data that stays on your servers
The Service reads and writes Jira data on your Jira Data Center instance and stores its settings there. This data is managed by your organization. Jira project and issue content never leaves your infrastructure through the Service; the limited user, license and telemetry data that may be transmitted when data sharing is enabled is described below.
The Service stores on your Jira Data Center:
- User settings: per-user app preferences (ActiveObjects table USER_SETTINGS).
- Billing rates: per-user hourly rates (ActiveObjects table USER_RATES).
- Site settings: admin flags and global settings in Jira PluginSettings (propertyentry): external data-sharing setting, finance currency.
- Domain/workspace settings: shared filters, workload, holidays and vacations settings in the plugin's key-value store (/storage endpoint → PluginSettings).
- Shared view links: encoded settings snapshots behind tokens (same PluginSettings store).
- Planning data: planned dates, splits and milestones in Jira entity properties: issue properties (planywayDates, planywayIssueParts) and project properties (planywayProjectSettings, pwMilestone).
All of this app and planning data lives inside your Jira Data Center database and file system. Jira project and issue content is not sent to or stored on Planyway's servers.
3.2 When data sharing is not enabled
If the administrator did not enable “Share usage and diagnostic data”, the Service does not send usage events, diagnostic data, survey answers or user details to Planyway. The in-app news feed and satisfaction survey are disabled.
The support chat (Intercom) still works: Planyway does not automatically provide Jira user identifiers, names, email addresses, or other Jira user attributes to Intercom. When you open the support chat, Intercom may process technical browser and network information required to provide the chat, together with any contact details and messages you choose to submit.
3.3 When data sharing is enabled
If your Jira system administrator enabled “Share usage and diagnostic data”, we collect:
- Usage events: which features of the Service are used and how. Event properties are declared in advance; Jira content, tokens and secrets are masked before sending.
- Diagnostic data: error details, performance metrics and request names with masked identifiers.
- User details: Jira user identifier (the username configured in Jira), name, email address, language, time zone and country.
- Organization and license details: organization name associated with the Jira license, or the instance title if it is not set; license type, app installation date.
- Survey answers and feedback messages you submit.
- Support chat (Intercom): any contact details and messages you submit. Planyway does not automatically provide your Jira identity or license details to Intercom.
3.4 Payments
Licenses are purchased through the Atlassian Marketplace. Planyway does not receive or store your payment information.
3.5 Cookies
Our Site uses cookies. More information in our Cookie Notice.
4. The administrator’s data-sharing choice
The “Share usage and diagnostic data” setting is controlled by your Jira System Administrator on behalf of your organization and applies to all users of the Jira instance. Your organization is responsible for informing its users. The choice is made during setup, and there is currently no self-service UI to change it later. To change the choice or to exercise applicable privacy rights, including the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, contact support@planyway.com.
5. How we use the data
- to maintain and improve the Service, fix errors and develop new features;
- to understand how the Service is used, in aggregated form;
- to respond to support requests.
6. Legal basis
If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we process usage and diagnostic data where necessary for our legitimate interests in maintaining, securing, understanding and improving the Service; support data to perform our agreement. More details are in Planyway and GDPR. California residents can find details in Planyway and CCPA.
7. Disclosure
We only disclose Personal Data to third parties when:
- We use service providers (Subprocessors) for analytics, diagnostics, email and customer support. The list is in Planyway and GDPR.
- Disclosure is required by law or to respond to lawful requests by public authorities.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, subject to this Privacy Policy.
8. International Transfer
Data shared under the administrator’s data-sharing choice and support data is processed by our service providers in the United States. Transfers of personal data from the EEA, UK and Switzerland rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (where the provider is certified) and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Data Retention
Diagnostic telemetry stored in Microsoft Application Insights is retained for up to 3 months. Product analytics stored in Amplitude is retained for up to 12 months. Identifiable usage and analytics data stored by Planyway is generally retained for up to 24 months, after which it is deleted or irreversibly anonymized.
We may retain aggregated or irreversibly anonymized historical statistics for longer, including indefinitely. Certain records may be retained for longer where necessary to comply with legal obligations or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
10. Security
More information is in Security.
11. Access Requests
You can request access to, correction or deletion of your Personal Data that Planyway holds. Send a request to support@planyway.com with your full name, email address, organization and what you would like to request. We will respond within one month of receipt of the request.
Data stored on your Jira Data Center instance is managed by your organization.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new Privacy Policy on this page and revise the "Last Updated" date.
